International Awards Program Recognizes Outstanding Information Security Products and Companies
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 2, 2019 – Nyotron, provider of the industry’s first Endpoint Prevention and Response (EPR) solution that both detects evasive malware and prevents damage to endpoints in real-time, today announced that its PARANOID solution has been named the winner of the “APT Software of the Year” award from CyberSecurity Breakthrough, a leading independent market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global information security market today.
Nyotron has pioneered a new threat-agnostic approach to protecting laptops, desktops and servers while providing precise visibility into the attack. Its PARANOID solution automatically whitelists all trusted operating system behavior and rejects everything else. The concept replaces Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) with Endpoint Prevention and Response (EPR).
For three decades, the security industry has been focused on detecting malicious activity by applying the Negative Security model. However, “badness” is practically infinite, so by focusing on the bad, it is impossible to solve the problem of malware with a high degree of confidence. However, what is “good” is a much smaller, finite subset, especially if defined as the legitimate behavior of the operating system. That’s why, by leveraging the Positive Security model, Nyotron is able to achieve threat-agnostic, deterministic protection. No other company has been able to take the Positive Security model to the OS level. PARANOID doesn’t just detect attacks after they’ve evaded frontline defenses; it prevents damage from taking place, including data encryption, exfiltration, MBR modification and much more. No disc scanning, AV definitions, baselining, threat hunting, cloud connectivity or ML/AI models are needed.
“With our pioneering positive security model, Nyotron is able to achieve threat-agnostic, deterministic protection,” said Sagit Manor, CEO, Nyotron. “This approach allows us to confidently protect critical infrastructure, government, and healthcare clients — cases in which PARANOID is literally responsible for the physical safety of employees and customers. We are thrilled to receive this significant industry recognition; the 2019 CyberSecurity Breakthrough Award is a strong testament to the innovation of our PARANOID platform.”
The mission of the CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize innovation, hard work and success in a range of information security categories, including Cloud Security, Threat Detection, Risk Management, Fraud Prevention, Mobile Security, Email Security and many more. This year’s program attracted more than 3,500 nominations from 15 countries.
“The primary value of Nyotron’s PARANOID is that it helps customers avoid data breaches and business continuity events that are obviously costly, especially for those in regulated industries, but the company is also delivering a ‘breakthrough’ security model that displays a high level of innovation,” said James Johnson, managing director, CyberSecurity Breakthrough. “We are pleased to recognize Nyotron for their well-deserved success and we extend a hearty congratulations to the entire company for their 2019 CyberSecurity Breakthrough Award designation.”
PARANOID was tested and certified by ICSA Labs to meet Advanced Threat Defense (ATD) Criteria standards by detecting 100 percent of lesser-known and unknown threats. ICSA Labs ATD testing was designed to test a solution’s ability to detect new and unknown threats that are typically missed by endpoint security solutions. According to the ICSA Labs report, “The Nyotron PARANOID platform detected 100.0% of the threats it encountered during testing, considerably better than the percentage required for certification.”
Nyotron is focused on developing new markets, technologies, products, and ways of thinking to deliver the best security solutions for customers. Nyotron’s customer base includes all major industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, transportation and the public sector.
Nyotron pioneers a new generation of automatic Endpoint Detection and Response with integrated protection called Endpoint Prevention and Response (EPR). Our product prevents damage from malware that evades existing security layers and offers granular visibility into the attack. Based on the OS-Centric Positive Security, Nyotron’s PARANOID automatically whitelists trusted operating system behavior and rejects everything else. No manual threat hunting, baselining, machine learning or cloud connectivity required. With PARANOID organizations gain true defense-in-depth protection against the most advanced attacks. Nyotron is headquartered in Santa Clara, CA with an R&D office in Israel.
